What a courageous post.

Emily - it’s a lot to process and I applaud you for stepping back. Sometimes in the fog, we find clarity. Write on everything and anything you need to. Your journey is important to articulate in this world.

Sounds like you have had a tough year, most of it outside of your control. Be kind to yourself, do what you can, and know that all things pass.

Emily,

Firstly, biggest hugs and love ❤️

You are a beautiful, kind, wise soul. Our resilience is like a muscle - when it bends and stretches to its snapping point - our body is saying (like you are saying in your heartfelt article) - STOP ✋

There is one thing I know - after decades of 'pushing through' trauma after trauma- is - we don't in fact 'push through'. We just put it in a suitcase and add it to our unprocessed baggage.

The middle - between a traumatic event or multiple events and moving through to the other side is messy. Sometimes we have just got to sit in the messy middle. Focus in on ourselves and process.

Processing is also not one event - it can take a lifetime. But taking time to just be there for yourself will begin the healing.

As Jody says - we aren't going anywhere. We are here for you - whatever that looks like. We are sitting quietly alongside you - holding space for you to be and do whatever you need to.

I am sorry that you have so many things weighing on you, on top of your immense grief. Take care my friend 🌷

Being able to reflect and see these changes in life can be a blessing and a curse. Hopefully you'll find that your successes from last year ARE paying off, but unfortunately it's manifesting as upheaval and change that you didn't expect.

Reading the books, learning the things, having the conversations are all great things! I hope you've got some juicy ones lined up! I also hope you find some peace in your life that lets you explore writing on your terms and be something you're doing because you love to.

I don't think anyone around here is leaving, so you still have ears who are listening to your words. Well.. eyes looking at them anyway, when you do feel moved to write.
